Summary The new names, epithets and combinations published by Gandoger in his Flora Europae are not validly published because: ‘genera’ are subordinated to genera in the sense of the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature . ‘Species’ are subordinated to species in that same sense. names of second category genera are used as the first part of binary combinations. epitheta of second category species are used as the second part of binary combinations. names and epithets of unequal rank are used as the first part of binary combinations thus creating the impression of genera of the first, second and third order (category). All these names are inadmissible because not validly published as provided for by Articles 5, 12, 23 and 33 of the Code .
