Summary The name Aconitum divergens Pančić (1883) (see Seitz 1969) is a younger homonym for Aconitum divergens Rafinesque (1836) which is synonymous with A. uncinatum L. — a species from North America. Therefore, A. divergens Panč. must be rejected according to article 64 of the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ICBN 1961). The legitimate name of A. divergens Panč. is “Aconitum pentheri Hayek (1917)” including the type subspecies “ssp. pentheri” and the new combination “ssp. burnatii (Gayer) Seitz comb. nov.”.
