Summary For some years there have been uncertainty and disagreement as to which name, Stilbella Lindau or Stilbum Tode ex Fr., more properly designates a genus of the Fungi Imperfecti and whether Stilbellaceae or Stilbaceae should be used as the family name. In view of the recent conservation of the latter family name for a taxon of phanerogamic plants (30) having as its type the genus Stilbe Bergius (1767), it seems appropriate to review the fungus nomenclatural problem.
