One of the main features of transitional reforms in Serbia and Montenegro is economic system transformation process, including structural adoptions according to market demands and criteria. Having in mind foreign experience, service industries are of outstanding importance, not only in structural adjustments of the economy and creation of conditions for its normal functioning, but they also have good chances for successful caring out the strategy of export - oriented growth. Serbia and Montenegro are facing the tasks of fast growth and development and the need to overcome the problem of large trade deficit. Service industries give an important possibility to solve successfully some of transitional economic problems and to reach conditions for involvement in EU. This paper will point out the main arguments about vary important chances and role of services in export promotion and for caring out successfully export-oriented economic growth strategy of the country.
