
American 'new economy': Achievements and problems

The author analyses the performances of the American economy since early 1990s till the present days (the GNP, unemployment, consumer prices and current balance of payments trends). Contrary to many expectations, in 1990s the American economy recorded a very strong and the longest rise in its recent history. The greatest contribution to this was made by the so called new economy. According to the author the 'new US economy' has been a creation of the American state. By financing scientific and technological research, the American administrations have made possible a long-term development strategies of key high technologies in the fields of informatics and communications. These technologies make a backbone of the 'new economy', concludes the author
