A novel synthesis of clindamycin from lincomycin using N-chlorosuccinimide and triphenylphosphine is reported. This results in high yields and avoids the use of tetrachloromethane employed in the current manufacturing process.This article has been corrected. Link to the correction 10.2298/JSC0012975E
