An analysis of heat waves is done using the Heat Wave Duration Index (HWDI) for Belgrade and Niš. The length and severity of heat waves at two meteorological stations in Serbia were analyzed based on the daily maximum temperatures during the summer (June, July and August) and winter (December, January and February)
