Rationalization is one of the main conditions for countries in transition to join the European Union, because the process of European integration in its first stage develops through so-called space integration, in other words through the region. As the middle level between state and local govern, region means reduction of expensive state administration and condition for successful democratic and economic reforms. Because of that, countries which are candidates for EU have accepted regionalisation and they are working very fast to change territorial administration in accordance with European norm's to achieve bigger decentalization. According to all of these facts, in this brief account has been performed regionalization of Central Serbia in accordance with regional division criterions (NUTS), which EU gave through her Statistical Central Station in Luxembourg (EUROSTAT)
