The paper deals with the process of research in urban geography field in the Geographic Institute "Jovan Cvijic" SANU. Elements for genesis and development of the subject, methods and characters of urban geography with different fields of research during the development of the Institute, are explained. Besides, the paper defines various results in this research, as well as contribution of the Institute in setting the subject of the original science method in geographic city research, including investigation in the future
