The study of the macroscopic characteristics of wood contributes to the better yield and implementation in the processes of wood processing. Based on the analysis of the significance of coppice forests, this paper presents a part of the study which deals with some parameters of macroscopic characteristics of sessile oak in coppice forests of the National Park "Đerdap". The research was performed on 3 representative trees. The following macroscopic characteristics of oak wood were researched: percentage of stemwood, growth ring width, thickness and percentage of bark, site and percentage of sapwood and heartwood, as well as their variation per tree height. Also, wood moisture was determined at the time of tree felling, as well as its variation per tree height
