Liberase HI has many advantages over traditional collagenases. Liberase performs the rapid dissociation of human pancreata and allows for the preservation of the morphological and functional integrity of isolated islets. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different concentrations of Liberase HI (1.5, 2.5 and 3.5 mg/ml) on the yield, viability and function of islets isolated by a non-automated method. Based on our results, the Liberase HI concentration 1.5 mg/ml is recommended for this method of isolation.
