The author analyses the persons and institutions involved in a Specification Program for Dental Materials. The difficulties encountered and related to tho acceptance of a Specification Program are also analised. Specifically the experience in Brazil, with the Brazilian Dental Materials Group working towards the acceptance of such a program and the results already obtained, are mentioned. Suggestions are presented to other Southamerican Countries who would like to start a Specifications Program for Dental Materials.
