Este artigo apresenta o parecer do Departamento de Educação Física da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto sobre a situação da Educação Física curricular obrigatória nessa instituição, diante da nova LDB. São abordados aspectos conceituais referentes ao oferecimento da disciplina Educação Física no contexto universitário, considerando a conjuntura a nível nacional e local, bem como o exercício da autonomia universitária diante dessa questão. This article presents the report of the Department of Physical Education of the Federal University of Ouro Preto on the situation of the compulsory curricular Physical Education in this institution, in face of the new LDB (Law of guidelines an bases). Conceptual aspects related to the offering of the discipline of Physical Education in the context of universities are herein discussed, taking into account national and local conjuctures, as well as the exercise of the university's autonomy in view of this matter
