The work deals with the textual study of rough manuscripts of the novel The Adolescent, specifically the correction of publisher’s errors in reading the manuscripts, together with the study of Dostoevsky’s creative process and the shaping of the concept of the novel in the phase of rough drafts. The article analyzes the connections between The Adolescent and Dostoevsky’s unrealized plan for The Life of a Great Sinner, as well as Pushkin and Lermontov’s motifs that were important for Dostoevsky’s creative method during the his work on the novel The Adolescent.
