Yvonne Mørch: The Gender Blind Eye of Multiculturalisms. The challenges of diversity and gender equality.
The article discusses the tension between different types of rights/rights of recognition as well as different forms of solidarity. The analysis takes its starting point in a question posed by Susan Okin: Is multiculturalism bad for women? The focus, then, is on the relationship between gender equality and the new multicultural challenges. The author stresses the importance of gender sensitivity when negotiating and developing different kinds of multiculturalisms. The aim of the article is to contribute to the development of better analytical tools to be used in our understanding of different processes of transformation
taking place in a globalized world.
