The article deals with topical issues of the development of local self-government based on the requirements of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, taking into account the constitutional amendments. The authors summarize some aspects of the constitutional consolidation of local self-government in different historical periods. Theoretical and practical approaches to ensuring selfgovernment tasks implementation are considered.
