The most frequent etiology of acute abdomen is acute appendicitis, being the most common surgical cause in the world; this leads to overlook other causes of peritoneal irritation such as Valentino Syndrome, unknown by many doctors, causing their diagnosis, most of the time, intraoperatively finding an appendix normal and free fluid around it. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective, observational and descriptive study was made from January 1th of 2012 to December 31th of 2017, including patients diagnosed with Valentino Syndrome by open or laparoscopic appendectomy RESULTS: In total, 11 patients were diagnosticated with Valentino Syndrome in patients who had peritoneal irritation. The 63% of the surgical procedures was through a laparoscopic approach and only 18% required conversion to laparotomy, the average surgery time was 56 minutes, average bleeding 15 cc. No patients required ICU admission and none mortalities. All patients had a prophylactic appendectomy. CONCLUSIONS Patients with this syndrome and laparoscopic surgery approach have a better performance , fewer complications and no mortality.
