Fibrin glue in neurosurgery

Fourteen patients submited to 16 surgical procedures in which fibrin glue was utilized are reported. The series is composed of 5 cases of acoustic neuromas, 1 empty sella, 1 Meniére syndrome, l CSF traumatic fistula, l orbital and brain abscess, l head injury with orbital reconstruction, l orbital cavernous hemangioma, 2 pituitary tumors and one post-mastmdectomy CSF fistula. The interaction between the use of fibrin glue and the following phenomena: development or persistence of CSF fistula, occurrence of infection and speed of the healing process were studied and, based on thesesresults, its clinicai efficacy was ranked.
