This essay provides a brief introduction to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on children and adolescents in Mexico.  It argues that children have been left behind and made invisible in the actions taken by governments to counteract the contagion. This article also analyzes what has happened as a result of changes regarding confinement, play, the use of streets and public spaces and educational institutions – from a children´s rights perspective.  The results of several studies that have been carried out in our country are mentioned, ending with some recommendations regarding recognition of the important place children hold in our society.
