Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is a primary cause of gastroduodenal ulcer disease, gastric cancer, and a variety of other gastric and extra gastric diseases. The medical management of H. pylori is a dynamic process that requires frequent reconsideration due to changing epidemiologic conditions (e.g., immigration), changing resistance patterns with therapeutic implications, and new understanding relating to the reasons for pathogen eradication.
