The paper is devoted to the study of the current state and prospects of reformatting the party-political system of Russia in the interests of society development. The paper’s stipulations are based on the generalization of the results of a large-scale sociological study, combining the methods of desk research, focus groups, interviews with experts, and private sessions with experts. The authors analyse the ideological foundations of the Russian party-political system, its perception by voters, and the parties’ functional efficiency as potential expression of the macro-social groups’ interests and values. The paper studies ideological demands of the electorate in relation to political parties. The authors provide a characteristic of the actors of the Russian political system and suggest options of party space design.
