Norbert Artner’s Hallstatt Revisited I is a series of ten large colour photographs taken in a southern China “copy town" for display in the original Austrian village that was copied. In our contribution, we show how Artner’s series represents a kind of “21st-century urbanism with Chinese characteristics” and makes clear the need to distinguish among different forms of copying.
