The Buddha discovered through personal experience the Middle Path ‘which gives vision and knowledge, which leads to Calm, Insight, Enlightenment, Nibbāṇa’. This Middle Path is generally referred to as the Noble Eightfold Path, because it is composed of eight categories or divisions.
