The data of study to determine the emotional state of 84 patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus and their self-assessment of quality of life was given in the article. According to the study design all patients were divided into 2 groups depending on labile or relatively stable course of disease. The control group consisted of 22 healthy persons. Due to the application of generally accepted questionnaire use the absence of the ability adequate perception of their condition were determined in significant number of patients in both groups. This fact should be seen as a barrier to effective selfmanagement and, consequently, to achieve of satisfactory metabolic parameters. At the same time, the lack of «obsession» on the disease for a certain number of persons with type 1 diabetes mellitus indicates their perception of the disease as lifestyle.
