The category of independence is a specific form of freedom. The independence of a particular social being is a category of freedom expressed in the guarantee of specific rights not only for man as an individual, but also for individual social beings due to their subjectivity. In the light of Catholic social teaching, one should speak about the entire catalog and the set of rights of a given social being that define the category of independence as an expression of freedom. Independence is due to every social being as a fundamental value, and therefore independence is an axiological category.
