The article examines the main problems that exist in the process of realizing the right of citizens to hold meetings, rallies, demonstrations, processions and pickets in the Russian Federation. The purpose of the study is to find a solution to the problems that arise when citizens exercise their right to public events. The features of the organization, implementation and termination of these events are analyzed. Examples from judicial practice are given. Attention is paid to the foreign experience of holding public events. Revealed and substantiated the need to improve the legislation on public events. The result of the study is the formulation of conclusions that it is necessary, based on the use of the experience of foreign countries, to develop recommendations for the development of legislation in this area.
