The article deals with issues related to the problems of legal regulation in relation to various legal systems of our time. In particular, the elements of the legal system are investigated and analyzed in the context of the civilizational approach to the typology of the state and law, their purpose is indicated. The issues of lawmaking, legal relations, the implementation of law, legal awareness and legal culture are highlighted. It is noted that each previously existing and currently existing civilization corresponds to a certain legal system reflecting the unique features and properties of this civilization. In this regard, not so much in form as in content, the types of legal systems corresponding to a particular civilization can be distinguished. It is noted that a serious problem in Russian law is a reasonable combination of individual and collective principles. The necessity of some adjustment of the existing classifications of legal systems is argued.
