The article discusses the practical aspects of the prevention of suicide among convicts. The analysis of possible actions of the administration of the institution to prevent the commission of suicides is carried out. The official statistical data on the facts of intentional infliction of harm to their health by convicts in correctional institutions are analyzed. The motives of the convicts committing these actions have been revealed. Based on the findings, the author has made proposals to improve preventive work in this direction, including in order to ensure the personal safety of convicts.
