The article outlines specific measures taken by the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus infection in places of detention, identifies electronic services of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia that are actively used in the activities of the department. The author of the article focuses special attention on the need for widespread use of electronic services of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in conditions of a global pandemic in places of detention and considers the issues of maintaining socially useful ties at the junction of penitentiary and family contexts. Conclusions are drawn about the importance of IT technologies in the activities of the UIS; the need to combine all electronic services provided by the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia on the web page of the official website of the department, as well as the introduction of video communication practices in all territorial bodies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.
