This article analyzes the organization and activities of the Institute of public control in relation to the legislative (representative) authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation. The authors substantiate the position that the institution of public control acts as the most important guarantee of the implementation of the constitutional principles of democracy and the participation of citizens in the management of state affairs. However, the organization and implementation of this institution of civil society faces numerous problems, one of which is the lack of consolidation in the current legislation of the concept and list of objects of public control. In this regard, the functioning of public control in relation to such an object as the legislative (representative) bodies of state power of the subjects of the Russian Federation is associated with numerous problems. The article analyzes these problems, as well as formulated and justified ways to resolve them, including by improving the Russian legislation. This will not only create optimal conditions for full control over the activities of the legislative (representative) state authorities of the Russian Federation, but also generally strengthen this institution of civil society.
