In this section of WEF Annual Literature Review, the author provided a snapshot on current developments in monitoring of organic and inorganic compounds in water, wastewater and groundwater and discussed their automated sampling and analysis methods. Additionally tracer applications in environmental monitoring and bacterial cell viability and biomass acclimatization monitoring by automated methods are reviewed.
