The present article discusses the results of a pedagogical intervention carried out in a Centro Juvenil de Ciência e Cultura (Youth Science and Culture Center), located in central Salvador. The project, entitled História.Doc, involved 14 students, aged 15 to 22, and was carried out over three months, during the second semester of 2019. From the approach of two research fields, Historical Education and Heritage Education, the objective of the project was to develop historical literacy focused on the interpretation of heritage sources and discuss ways of preserving cultural assets to qualify students for the full exercise of citizenship. Throughout the process, we collect data through questionnaires and observation records that are analyzed in this text based on the notion of historical consciousness
