This article presents a study on the use and exploitation of the quadripolar method in the context of master's and doctoral studies mainly in Information Science. To this end, studies conducted in Portugal and Brazil between 2006 and 2019 were surveyed. In the field of Information Science, whose object information is taken as a phenomenon, therefore with greater complexity and scope, namely social, a methodological approach that deals with this complexity is required. Thus, the quadripolar method is a viable option that assists in the approach of phenomena associated with information, its use and exploitation, in the context of Information Science. The Quadripolar Method proposes a multidisciplinary approach in which it combines both the qualitative and quantitative approaches, proposing a dynamic research instrument, based on the result of the interaction between four poles: epistemological; theoretical; technical and morphological. This approach allows the double study of the problem in question, both in its context and as a representative of a common class of similar problems.
