The objective of this research is to find significant differences according to the perception of poverty of university students. The perception of poverty has its repercussions in the way ofperceiving the causes of social phenomena such as poverty. Through a sample made up of 100 students from 3 universities, it was found that there are significant differences in aspects such as cultural learning theory, theory of powers that be and deterministic theory. It is concluded that the attribution theory can be used to understand the perception of social phenomena such as the causes of poverty.
