Conization represents a major element in the diagnosis and especially the treatment of neoplasia detected by cytology. On the occasion of a retrospective series of 15 cases, we tried to situate the place of conization in the diagnostic and therapeutic arsenal of precancerous states of the uterine cervix. It improves the diagnostic yield provided by cytology and biopsy alone or directed by colposcopy, and is necessary for the diagnosis of microinvasion. In our series the FCU was concordant with conization in 82% of cases, and overestimated the lesion in 12% of cases. Biopsy allowed an accurate diagnosis in 67% of cases. It underestimated the lesions in 20% of cases and overestimated them in 12% of cases.
