Summary Dexmedetomidine and ketamine have been used together for sedation in various operative procedures. A calm, sedated, pain‐free, cooperative patient with preserved airway reflexes, respiratory drive and haemodynamic stability can be achieved with this combination and we report its successful use in two patients who underwent surgery for maxillofacial fractures.
