Relevance of the work. After the recent drop in oil prices, which is Algeria’s main income, Algeria has been forced to increase production in the mining sector. Purpose of the work. Algeria seeks to increase the production of the Diatomite Deposit in the sig mine west of Algeria, but the geological conditions and geotechnics of rocks whose resistance to them is weak, are among the most important problems that hinder the increase in production. The currently used room-and-pillar development system does not meet the mining conditions of the development of the Diatomite Deposit, the conduct of preparatory and cleaning works is constantly accompanied by collapses of roof rocks. Results. To ensure an increase in productivity to 100 thousand tons of Diatomite per year and above, it is necessary to reequip the mine with a change in the technology of the method of its production. Conclusions. The introduction of a longwall development system with a mechanized treatment complex, which is widely used in the coal industry, will significantly help to increase Diatomite production, ensure the safety of underground mining operations and increase the resource efficiency of the field.
