Abstract Equations are derived that permit use of a triple‐collector mass spectrometer for determination of 15 N‐labeled dinitrogen (N 2 ) and nitrous oxide (N 2 O) by procedures recently developed for double‐collector instruments. These equations are based upon the ratios 29 N 2 / 28 N 2 and 30 N 2 / 28 N 2 , instead of 29 N 2 / 28 N 2 and 30 N 2 /( 28 N 2 + 29 N 2 ).
