A supernatant isolation system was investigated as a means to assay 63 Ni adsorption to kaolinite. The Titertek Supernatant Collection System utilizes microtiter wells as the reaction chamber and cellulose‐acetate cartridges to separate kaolinite from supernatant. The 63 Ni absorbed into the cartridge was assayed on a scintillation counter. The supernatant of 96 wells could be separated from the kaolinite in under 5 min. The coefficient of variation for all measurements averaged 6.83%. The primary limitation of this system is the lengthy equilibration time.
