Abstract A phenomenological equation was applied to boron adsorption by soils as a function of both pH and boron concentration. Experimental results obtained for four different soils were compared with results computed for each soil according to fitted adsorption parameters. The agreement between the calculated values and experimental results indicates that this model can be used to predict boron adsorption by soils. Experimental results of adsorbed boron by soils as a function of solution‐to‐soil ratio were compared with results computed according to the same fitted adsorption parameters. The agreement between the calculated and experimental results indicates that, within the tested range of solution‐to‐soil ratios, the water content does not affect the boron‐soil interaction.
