Soil reaction class is a criterion used in classifying Entisols. A total of 122 pedons of alluvial Entisols were sampled in eight major geologic areas of the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plains. Soil reaction values were determined in water and 0.01 M CaCl 2 . Geologic formation may be used to predict the soil reaction class at the family level when the formation is relatively uniform. Areas having highly dissected terrain are somewhat unpredictable.
