A small tensiometer was constructed and used in field and laboratory studies. The units are suitable only for low suctions, but have the fast response time that is desirable for measuring short‐term changes in field and laboratory studies of drainage. Several tensiometers have been in use for over 4 years and continue to perform very satisfactorily.
