A technique was developed using a 10.2‐cm‐diameter soil sampler to obtain undisturbed soil cores encased in heat‐shrinkable tubes. Six cores were taken in feedlots, five from sandy loam, and one from a silty clay loam. The undisturbed soil core is placed inside the plastic tube during the sampling operation, thereby minimizing core handling and possible fracture.
