A realistic water‐diffusivity function depending on three parameters was described recently by Ahuja and Swartzendruber (1972). An analytical solution for the horizontal infiltration of water and for such a diffusivity function is presented here. The result is expressed in terms of elementary functions and agrees very well with experimental observations.
