Five soils occurring in alpine regions of British Columbia, Canada, were described. The soils were found to have silt loam to loamy sand textures. Four of the soils met the morphological requirements of the Spodosol order. Dark surface mineral horizons occurred at four sites; two of these qualified as umbric epipedons. Volcanic ash was found in the vicinity of some sites. The soils were classified into the USDA Comprehensive System and the System of Soil Classification for Canada.
