Correlations of Soil pH and Percent Base Saturation as Influenced by Soil‐Forming Factors

Eighty soils collected more or less at random over a large area gave very low correlations between soil pH and percent base saturation. In the same area, soils chosen according to soil‐forming factor ordinations gave very high correlations between the two soil properties. Climate was the dominant determining factor.
