A method is outlined which allows one to determine the constancy of diffusion coefficients measured by the use of Fick's second law subject to two sets of initial and boundary conditions if the spatial distribution of the diffusing ion is known. The constancy of published self‐diffusion coefficients was analyzed for illustrative purposes; they were found to remain essentially constant throughout the diffusion period. The method can be used to calculate constant diffusion coefficients from experimental spatial‐distributions of the diffusing ions. Diffusion coefficients calculated in this manner were compared with the values calculated by other methods; the values are the same, within experimental error, as predicted by theory.
