Miscible displacement techniques were used to compare the behavior of deuterium, tritium, and oxygen‐18 as water tracers. Displacement of a 170‐ml portion of triply tagged water through a 186‐cm‐long column of water‐saturated acidic kaolinitic soil by distilled water revealed no differences in the relative rates of movement of deuterium‐, tritium‐, and oxygen‐18‐tagged water.
