A greenhouse investigation was conducted to evaluate the availability of K added in plant residue materials. A high degree of recovery (90%) of the K added in the residues was possible on intensive cropping by common ryegrass ( Lolium multiflorum ). The K added in corn ( Zea mays L.) and alfalfa ( Medicago sativa L.) residues did not differ in availability and was equal to K added in KCl.
