A technique is described for continuous in situ measurement of pH in soil systems. The instrumentation consists of several minature combination electrodes connected through a stepping switch arrangement to an amplifier and a single‐point recorder. The unit is not subject to external disturbances and is applicable to situations where information concerning rate and degree of pH change is desired. A description of the system and an experimental example of its use are discussed.
